Report of Christ Mission Ashram for the Month January ~ March 2010

Thank God for His guidance and providence we have passed the year 2009 with a Watch-night Service on the 31st December as we entered a New year 2010 with a thankful heart to our living God Jesus Christ. On 1st January 2010, at 10 AM we had a joint New Years service with the theme “Complete the race with a reward” (1 Cor. 9:26-27). It has already been three months since the beginning of this year and I am happy to give you a brief report on what the Lord has done within this time.

Kolkata Love Reformed Presbyterian Church: By His grace service is going on every Sunday with all the activities. During this time, on 10th January 2010, Rev. Park Jae Kyu preached a sermon in our Bengali worship service and the Down church vision team performed a dance & drama. On 14th Feb, Rev. Kim Chang Bae delivered the sermon & Elder Park Jee Hyung prayed in the Bengali worship service with special song done by Yongpha Songyohe, Sukrit with church Elder, deacon & others. We are grateful to God that we received the plan sanction of Kolkata Mission Center and God willing we like to start the word on 1st Baisaki in Bengali Calender. We give thanks to all who pray and support till today. Pray for a good contractor and finance to complete the work and dedicate it during Silver Jubilee of CMA. We are grateful to the donation of Elder Lee Ok Jin and Roger Pede.

Eye cataract operations

Free Eye Cataract operation & Medical Clinic: The 9th Free Eye cataract surgery was held on 11-14th February 2010 at Canning Christ Mission Ashram’s campus. 49 micro surgeries were given for free for those who came from the Sunderban Islands by the help of Yongpha Songyohe and a group of medical doctors (Dr. Park Jae Hyung, Dr. Lee , Dr. Han,Dr.Kim Byung Oh). These medical doctors treated more than 1000 patients during this trip.

Graduation at IRPTS Seminary

India Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary: The second term of 2009-2010 academic year ended after examination from 14-17th December 2009. Then the 3rd term re-opened on 7th January 2010 with a day of fasting & prayer.

The 19th B. Th. Graduation was held on 12th February where five students graduated: Gopal Santra, Birendra Maity, Jonah Basumata, Rajkumar Debbarma & Samir Debbarma. Gopal Santra achieved the best student performance, and 2nd year student Prabin Debbarma & 1st year student Nepolian Narzanary become best students. Rev. Kim Ha Jin, Rev. Kim Chang Bae & Elder Park Jae Hyung were the guests of honor who gave the prayer, sermon and benediction.

2009년, 금년 한 해에도 하나님의 은혜가 풍성했음을 고백합니다. 그 동안 우리 선교회 산하 모든 성도들이 성경 일독을 은혜 중에 마칠 수 있었으며, 금년 1월 2일부터 다시 두 번째 성경 일독을 시작할 수 있었습니다. 모든 교회와 성도들이 매일 성경 읽는 일에 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 최근 몇 개월간 출애굽기부터 사무엘까지 읽었습니다. 우리 모두는 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱, 모세, 여호수아, 사무엘 및 사울과 다윗과 함께 하셨던 살아계신 그 하나님을 발견할 수 있었으며, 오늘 그 주님이 우리와 함께 계심을, 그리고 하나님의 성령이 우리와 함께 하고 계심을 믿습니다. 성탄절에 즈음하여 우리 선교회 보고를 통해 여러분들과 그 기쁨을 함께 나누길 소망합니다.

Christmas Letter

Our living Lord has been very gracious to us during the year 2009. By God’s grace we were able to finish reading the entire Bible one time and restarted it on 2nd January 2009 from Genesis chapter one. Our entire mission, all the churches and believers decided to go through the Bible together and read at least one chapter each day. During these few months we have read Exodus ~ Samuel. We found that our living “God was” with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Saul & David, today the same Lord is with us (Mt. 28:20). The Spirit of God is with us as it was with Samuel, David etc. In this time of joyful Christmas we are happy to give you the brief report of our mission.

Summer news on CMA

It is my joy to give you a brief report of our mission for the past six months. Our living Lord has been very gracious to us during the months of April ~ September 2009.

By God’s grace we were able to finish reading the entire Bible one time starting on 1st January 2009 at Genesis chapter one. In our mission, all the churches and believers are supposed to read one chapter each day. Today (28th Sept) we read 2-Samuel chapter 3. During these few months we have read Exodus ~ Samuel. We found the living “God was” with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Soul & David, today the same Lord is with us (Mt. 28:20).

C M A Prayer Points for June 2009

Thank God that after much prayer the Lord has brought a stable government in Central to rule coming five years. Pray for peace and hope, security, and stability.
God provided the finance to complete the construction work of Good Samaritan Hospital And the Kolkata Mission Centre at the land giving by Government.
God may open the heart of the people who received the gospel through our summer outreach teams and also pray for coming Vision Teams who are preparing to come and reach the unreach from Korea and other parts.
Pray for the need of a Hostel for 200 students of our Ideal Mission School where our Pastor’s, evangelist’s, and believer’s children are studying for future worker for the Lord.
Pray that many new students may come to our Seminary to study and the visit of Rev. Mrs. Sukrit Roy to USA and The Netherland would be fruitful.
Pray for pastors, evangelists and co workers to be filled with the Holy Spirit, grow, stay close to God, see fruit in their ministries and have their needs provided for.

Palm Sunday and Peace Rally

On April 5th we celebrated Palm Sunday worship service and had a Peace Rally together with all the believers with palm leaves in hand singing Hosanna song. From 6th ~ 9th April we had passion week service and on 10th April had good Friday worship from 12 ~ 4 PM. This month on Easter Sunday, six adults and two children were baptized and a communion service was held. After that a Bible Quiz & love feast was held. After 4 PM all the Christians in Kolkata had an Easter procession and finally a joint worship at St. James Church ground.

Easter Letter 2009

It is my joy to write this CMA news letter. This Sunday, we celebrated the most glorious event in all of history. Because He lives, we who know Him shall live also. In the resurrection, Jesus Christ conquered sin and death; He is alive forever.

There is none other like Christ
He had no servants yet they called Him Master
No degree yet they called Him Teacher
No medicine yet they called Him Healer
No army yet He is Conqueror
He won no military battles yet He is victorious over the world
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him
He was buried in the tomb yet He lives today!”

We thank God for His faithfulness that from the beginning of this year till today although the financial crisis of the world He is faithful to provide the every needs of us by His providence (Phil.4:19) as He supplied for Elijah by crow. We are ever grateful to those who are our mentors, teachers, advisors, prayer partners, supporters, co-workers and well wishers.

Four Health Centres inaugurated

CMA has a long tradition in the promotion of health for residents of the Sunderban Islands. These islands in the bay of the Ganges are a unique eco-system. At the same time, the inhabitants are very poor and deprived of many facilities. On most islands you will find no gas, water or electricity. Often, the farmers can provide their own food, but medical care is practically inaccessible. Regularly CMA teams go with one of our two boats to the islands, accompanied by a doctor, an optician and a pharmacist.

We are particularly grateful that, by the help of “Palm en Ceder” from the Netherlands, five clinics could be built where our health care gets a permanent place. This week four of the five clinics on the islands were inaugurated by Rev. Willem Smouter from the Dutch church in Breukelen.
With the increasing number of consultations we feel the need for a hospital where the doctors can refer to when necessary. The hospital is being built right now in the area of our Seminary. For the equipment and daily practice however, we still need partners. Please pray for those with a vision for medical care for the needy.
